
PNA-NC BOWLING TOURNAMENT RULES
1. PNANC bowling league will bowl each Sunday at
2. Each team will consist of three (3) Regular bowlers and a maximum of five (5) substitutes. Substitutes can only play in one (1) team. Switching teams is not allowed. Therefore, a team may have 8 members at the most. Final list of team members has to be submitted by May 18th.
3. A minimum of 2 bowlers is needed for each game. Blind scores may be used for the other one. Otherwise, the game will be forfeited.
4. Fee is $12.00 per bowler for 3 games.
· The fee for the last 3 games will be collected on the 3rd to the last Sunday of bowling.
· Absent bowler is responsible for providing his/her replacement. If for some reason, a substitute is not available, the absent bowler is responsible for the week’s bowling fee.
· The team captain is responsible for submission of the team’s bowling fee to the league secretary and in ensuring it’s accuracy.
5. Scoring:
· Handicap will be 80% of: 200 less average. 90 pins max.
· Handicap shall be calculated based on the first 3 games bowled.
· Automatic scorers shall be used with scores verified by computers. The tournament Committee makes corrections to scores during the league.
· Scores of absent bowlers without substitute shall be the bowler’s average minus 10 pins. (BLIND SCORE)
· Scoring is based on point system:
1 point per game won
1 point for highest total pins (with handicap) for the 3 games
4 points total for each event.
· The highest overall pins with handicap will be the tiebreaker (for Championship Games)
· Only substitutes with established handicap based on 9 games will be allowed to play at the Championship.
6. Make-up games:
· Pre-bowling is allowed. Individual pre-bowls will be allowed with a printed copy of the scores attached. No pre-bowls will be allowed for the last 3 games of the Tournament. A bowler may only pre-bowls for 2 successive weeks and then must bowl with the league or find a substitute.
· There will be no post-bowling.
· Under adverse weather condition, the Tournament Committee will make decision on make-up games.
· Any player or team arriving after the 3rd frame will be disqualified from the ongoing game. If a team refuses to start due to incomplete lineup, the Tournament Committee may declare the game forfeited.
· If a team forfeits, the opposing team needs to bowl equal to or greater than the total team average less than 40 pins to earn the 1 point for that game. It will automatically get the 1 point for the series. No point will be awarded to the forfeiting team.
· No new subs will be allowed to bowl after week 4.
7. Rules on Championship Games:
· Teams will be paired as follows: #1 vs #2, #3 vs #4, #5 vs #6, #7 vs #8, #9 vs #10.
· The total number of points earned will determine the final team standings.
8. Awards and Prizes:
· The top 3 teams will be awarded cash prizes and trophies. Up to 8 trophies will be awarded for each team. Members should have bowled at least 3 games. Distribution of cash awards is at the discretion of each team. Normally, this is done based on number of games played.
· Cash prizes will be determined by the number of participating teams and the expenses incurred during the tournament.
· The following Individual awards will be given. A minimum of 15 games need to be played to qualify for these awards. Each winner will received a trophy:
*High Average Male and Female
*High Game Scratch Male and Female
*High Series Scratch Male and Female
*High Game Handicapped Male and Female
*High Series Handicapped Male and Female
*Most Improved Male and Female
A bowler may receive only one individual award even if he or she has the best score in more than one category(except Most Improved who may also have another award). To determine the awardees, the committee will first take note of the best score in each category. If the best score already has an award in another category, the trophy will then go to the second best score. If the second best score already has an award, it will go to the third, and so on.
9. The Tournament Committee shall decide on any rules and disputes, and the decision will be final.
10. The Tournament Committee shall decide on any questions not covered by the Tournament rules.
